"I think of what a fashion editor is wearing — it's not Gucci," Lindsey Solomon, a fashion publicist, told BI. After taking the top spot on the Lyst Index of fashion's hottest brands in 2022, Gucci dropped to number 11 last quarter. "We still believe the Gucci brand's current growth rate, which is 10 times higher than that of the industry, represents a risk going forward," Morningstar's Sokolova wrote in a 2017 note. Gucci relied heavily on China for its growth, but stores — perhaps including this one in China's Hainan Province — have struggled recently.

For the director and conductor, it is an opportunity to embrace the opera professionally after a lifetime of personal connection. The director, Daniele Abbado, 66, is taking on his first “Simon Boccanegra” (he is also a designer, with Angelo Linzalata, in a production he describes as modern and abstract). Mr. Abbado attended the now-famous 1971 staging, which was conducted by his father, the prolific Claudio Abbado, who died in 2014. That staging helped make the opera a hit at La Scala — 90 years after its debut at the house.

ROME (AP) — José Mourinho is leaving Roma “with immediate effect,” the club announced Tuesday — ending an at times successful but also turbulent stay in the Italian capital for the veteran coach. Mourinho was in his third season at Roma and his contract was due to expire in June. He led the Giallorossi to the UEFA Conference League title in his first season and Roma was a Europa League finalist last season. “AS Roma can confirm that José Mourinho and his coaching staff will leave the club with immediate effect,” the club said in a statement. “Arrivederci, Roma,” Mourinho said on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, next to a photo of him carrying the Conference League trophy.

The family of three carried just two grocery bags of their belongings from their past lives in Venezuela. When they reached the row of shuttle buses that would carry them to the Nicaraguan border, Ms. Villasmil was so overwhelmed with relief that she texted her relatives back home who were also considering fleeing. The Costa Rican government, she wrote them, was willing to provide “safe passage.”“We move forward,” Ms. Villasmil told her family in Venezuela. A startup that uses generative AI to create synthetic data has just nabbed $6 million in Series A funding from United Ventures. Italian startup Aindo, which launched in 2018, has developed and patented a technology which can generate artificial data, which mimics the characteristics and patterns of the original dataset. This can then be used to train AI models across a range of industries. IBy 2024, 60% of the data used for AI will be synthetic, according to estimates from Gartner. Europe's data protection laws also mean that acquiring certain data points – such as medical records or patient details — is difficult.
